Auto Insurance

If you want financial protection for your vehicle, consider auto insurance. If you cause an accident, you may be liable for any associated expenses, including legal fees. Hordis Family Agency policies range from liability only coverage to comprehensive coverage. We can help you whether you are in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, or Maryland.

Auto Insurance Requirements

Pennsylvania requires all drivers to carry insurance while operating a vehicle. Additionally, if requested by law enforcement, you must show proof of insurance. You must carry liability insurance at the minimum with the following limits:

  • Bodily injury for each person for $15,000
  • Bodily injury for each accident for $30,000
  • Property damage for $5,000

Liability coverage protects you if you cause an accident that results in bodily injury or property damage to another party.

If you fail to carry insurance, you may face penalties including:

  • Fines
  • Vehicle registration suspension
  • Drivers license suspension
  • Restoration fees
  • And more

Auto Insurance Coverage

You can choose from any of the following auto insurance coverages:

  • Bodily Injury: If you are responsible for a car accident, bodily injury liability coverage pays for the medical costs of the people who are injured (not including yourself).
  • Property Damage: It helps pay to repair damage you cause to another person’s vehicle or property.
  • Uninsured Motorists Liability: Uninsured motorist insurance protects you if you’re in an accident with an at-fault driver who doesn’t carry liability insurance.
  • Underinsured Motorists Liability: coverage steps in when you’re in an accident with an at-fault driver whose liability limits are too low to cover the medical expenses of any injured people.
  • Comprehensive: This protects you against damages to your vehicle that do not result from a collision. For example, if your car is damaged by weather, theft, or animals, this will help you repair or replace your vehicle.
  • Collision: This can help cover the expenses of repairing or replacing your vehicle if you are involved in an accident with another motorist.
  • Roadside Assistance: If your vehicle runs out of gas, gets a flat tire, or breaks down, this will cover towing expenses and other roadside assistance costs.
  • Rental Reimbursement: Rental reimbursement coverage helps you pay for transportation expenses, such as a rental car or public transportation fare, while your own vehicle is being repaired after a covered insurance claim. It does not apply if your vehicle needs routine maintenance work or if you need to rent a car on vacation.
